about

Originally hailing from Hawke's Bay, Sarah Paton Taylor is a Lower-Hutt-based composer, sonic artist, and New Zealand School of Music Te Kōkī graduate. While works for stereo loudspeaker are her speciality, she also greatly enjoys composing notated music. Her works have made appearances at the Lilburn Trust NZSM Composition Competition, Sounds of Te Kōkī, VICWIC: A Celebration, and the Confucius Institute China Crossing Competition where she earned a Highly Recommended prize for her solo Erhu piece, Hauroa.

For Celestial Waters, Sarah contributed a piece titled "Space of Our Waves." She describes it as an "ambiversive sonic art that imagines two beings (whales, if you will) communicating and existing in the biggest ocean: Outer Space." The immersive soundscape she crafted includes a range of synths, vocal recordings, and a Kōauau blessed by the sea.
