Nathan Carter (aka Alter Natural) is a Wellington-based composer and sonic artist. With a broad range of electronic, acoustic, and art music influences, his genre-fusing compositions frequently explore themes of beauty and philosophical sublimity through painterly ambient soundscapes and progressive electronic/acoustic grooves. Much of his music is also inspired by visual artworks and real world environments. In 2024-2025, he will be undertaking masters research in sonic arts composition at the New Zealand School of Music Te Kōkī.

Writing about his piece (titled "Launch From Atlantis"), Nathan describes it as "an atmospheric, progressive EDM journey through the scintillating stars of deep space and the glowing depths of a majestic oceanic world, following the story of a spacefaring vessel emerging from beneath the waves and rocketing up beyond the clouds." Taking a more euphoric 'sci-fi' approach to the album's sea and space theme, it features a variety of ethereal oceanic sound design, delicate choral melodies, and organic electronic grooves throughout.
